Fiasco Magazine

Did that blow your mind a little, too? So epic. Doesn't he kind of look like Alexander from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros? Don't start whistling. Please.

AND NOW FOR MORAL DILEMMA:

Photobucket

THIS SPREAD MADE ME WANT TO GET MY NAVEL PIERCED. Yes, I know I am TOO OLD (I'm 23) and yes, I know that they are TRASH-TASTIC, but let's also remember this. I am Anna-Christina. I am defined by questionable fashion choices (half-shaved head, hawaiian print, the list goes on). And I love a good challenge. So I accept the challenge of making the navel piercing look awesome, like this gorgy afro chick does.

So uh... I guess there's not really a moral dilemma but I'd still like to hear your thoughts! Not that it'll change my mind...

  1. I don't think you should. It's SO trashy. You are classy. Your blog is classy. I am still going to be a follower either way...but I don't think you should!

  2. As long as it has a rhinestoned dolphin that dangles off of it, i think it can be classy.

I would normally say do whatever you want, but i have this painful memory of a friend in high school who got hers pierced and it got horribly infected and she had a golf-ball sized thing on her stomach (thankfully she never let me know what exactly was forming this thing because i probably would have puked).

I know this is just a horror story, but it scarred me forever. and her, probably more so. So i got my cheek pierced instead.

Personal reactions aside, if you wait 5 years for it to become ironic again, you most likely aren't going to feel comfortable showing your navel, but if you get it done now, is it too close to the coat tails of the teenybopper trend?

  6. i debated the belly button ring for forever. so happy i never got one. i know my twenty two year old stomach would look fine (and trash-TASTTTIC) with one right now...but after kids it'll end up looking more like a "what not to wear" scenario. xx

  8. Love girls with questionable fashion choices (this expression remembers me of Gwen Stefani who i love). It's so much nice than the monotony of the-all-perfect-ones.

So go ahead and pierce it. I'm willing to do it too and i'm 27 ;)

  15. hm it doesn't have to look trashy. depends on what your style is like. my apologizes but miss britney looks trashy all the way no matter if she has clothes on or not, navel piercing or not (maybe it's the platinum blonde that makes her look trashy? in my opinion that hair color can often do that unless you're marilyn monroe or abby lee), this afro girl probably doesnt and by looking at your style im pretty sure you wouldn't either. i think ANY piercing can look trashy if the rest of your style is trashy-looking.
i got my navel pierced when i was 14, it didn't hurt much (it was more ticklish than painful) and i wanted it so bad just like i wanted all kinds of other piercings (yup a rebellious teenager). i din't get anything else except some extra in my ears. im almost 21 now and i keep forgetting i have this piercing. i barely see it and i def do not feel it. i don't wanna grow it out but i think that that if i hadn't pierced my navel when i was 14 i wouldn't wanna do it now either. but i also wouldn't say you're too old - c'mon, these days 50-year-olds get nipple piercings and what not... now THAT'S old!

  16. So I definitely looked at the pic for a while reading the headings and thought you meant classy vs trashy bc of the tan lines before reading your question and noticing that they have their belly buttons pierced... lol
anyways, I remember thinking belly button piercings were pretty hot when I was 13 and before everyone and their moms got one. I'm 24 and I've always been glad I never got it bc it became so overdone, but I don't think it's horrible if you want to get one. It's not like you're going to be all trashy about it. and honestly most ppl wouldn't even notice the difference... it's just about what you want.
