Shredded

Among my true loves are post-apocalyptic chic, destroyed clothing and DIY.

Old MMM there.

This next one is on Oak NYC for $224!

These next ones are on Etsy for less than $60!

But honestly, I'd rather dedicate four hours of my time than forty bux. And Childhood Flames had just the tutorial for t-shirt shredding! Oh and it's a great blog, btw.

Here's how my first attempt turned out.

Spring Shopping

Spring is here, it's official.

I've made the commitment to shop exclusively handmade or vintage.

My Versace shades broke. One arm popped off (irreparably) one day.
My black Dior sandals strap came out of the sole.
My Marc Jacobs black patent wedges strap broke out of the sole, too. After wearing them for an hour.
My Fendi bag's strap broke. $1500 handbag.
My other Fendi, all the beading fell off.

And I take damn good care of everything I own. Never any hard wear and always in protective cases or dust bags or boxes when not in use.

Let's face it. With designer goods, money isn't buying you quality. Being a fashionista, style is my first priority. Being a student, budget is my first priority. Nothing in this shopping guide is over $80. Click on pictures for direct links.

So I've commited to handmade and vintage. And now is the time to make the transition into spring! Baby steps.

Alice, my idol

I adore Alice Dellal.

And with the changing of the seasons, I needed a changing of the me. First of all, I decided to get my very first piercing.

Photobucket

I blacked out, almost threw up and peed myself a little. Thank you, Derek, for capturing the moment.

And I had a stud custom made. I wanted the simplest, most subtle little piercing. I want it to appear that a dew drop, or sweet rain drop, was delicately situated on my ear. So I had the perfect stud made of aquamarine and 18k gold by Bloom Studios.

It came out perfect.

Photobucket

Oh, and I did a Dellal to my head. I went to the salon and my boyfriend deep-conditioned my sun, surf and saltwater frazzled hair and cut off my dead ends. Then my darling sister buzzed it.

That necklace is the Aquarium. Loose gemstones shake and rattle freely inside a glass locket.

Blackberries, Tadpoles and Open Sky

I apologize for the blogging negligence. Afterall, it was spring break.

I drove to Austin, to visit my sister.

It was truly magical. A small group of us went hiking at Pedernales Falls. We packed a brunch picnic of moist blueberry muffins, greek yogurt, gingersnap granola, fresh bakery bread, blackberry jam and fresh blackberries. We did about ten miles, then sat by a creek with our feet in the water and our faces in the sun, passing around a bottle of wine. We caught tadpoles and built a dam. In one word, idyllic.

A few of my favorite things:

Those cufflinks from nytimes.com T Magazine are made of 18k gold, diamonds and jade.

I love the handmade quality of that yellow Choo camera bag, and that skirt? Snakeskin.

Wild + Gothic

These are some beauties from Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons. Is this man not yummy? I love them dirty and tattooed.

Here's the Crosses Necklace in green hues that I made.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Available in my shop.

It is layers of soft, black deerskin bearing crosses made of various stones, mostly jade. The crosses are various green hues with one dusty rose cross scattered in the lot.

Most of the crosses have small stops so that no matter how quickly you throw on the Crosses Necklace, it will effortlessly fall into place, perfectly.
