Long overdue this is. I'll be in California next week apartment hunting and am completely unprepared. Quite honestly all I do is swing dance (found a great new swing club in Carrollton), seek frozen yogurt (preferably from PinkBerry), thrift store shop, swim, drink Malibu coconut and sprite and work at ye ol' coffee shop.
Summer is here.
Chelsea brought wisdom back from San Fran in the form of "beer filter". Hold a good amber beer against the flash, and keep the shutter open for a moment longer... Dewy, balanced skintones and luscious hues. Makes gold jewelry look particularly good. I wish I had been wearing more than just my Coach padlock watch...
An aside: I love Coach. None of the logo-emblazoned stuf, but I love Coach, like I love Frye, Levis and Clarks. Lots of things that were best in the 70's are my guilty pleasures today.
Well, I was giving a countdown.
Don't mind the Chloe, or the PBR.
I stumbled across fine art photographer, Julie Hamel.
Sideways cross necklace, handmade.

Column Dress
Part II: The Outfit
The dress is two American Apparel jersey racerback minidresses sewn together. I bought one, loved its ease and comfortability so much, I bought two more in different colors. Last summer, in sticky humid Galveston, where I wore them every single day (almost) I was left with the softest, sheerest imaginable jersey.
I'm trying to cull my closet down these days with the philosophy of quality, not quantity, so I figured I'd salvage the fabric and create one out of two. I just sewed them together then dribbled bleach down both sides, and love the effect. It's the comfy-est thing I own now. This is the AmAp racerback I'm talking about:
The sandals are Fiorintini and Baker and the tiny gold charm necklace is part of my everyday jewelry-- I seriously wear it everyday as if by default. It's by Dogeared and I've had it for two years now and wear it more days than not.

Minimalist Perfect
This one night will be broken into three posts: The Apartment, The Outfit, The Night.
The Apartment
Minimalist perfect. It fills me with envy because I will never be anything but a messy hoarder. This perfect little apartment belongs to the beautiful redhead, Chelsea.
I can only ever aspire to this kind of balanced austerity, this embrace of negative space, this space with room to think.
If ever I could achieve this, here's a few objects that you would find in mine:
1. Table, handmade, $599
2. iPod phonograph
3. Thimble candles, handmade, $18
4. Driftwood art, handmade, $50
