Seattle in April

I've fallen madly in love with Seattle. Should something terrible befall San Diego, should it fall into the ocean, etc, I will live in Seattle. But probably not before then.

Thus far it has been sunny, springy, full of daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, mountains and cold beaches, thrifting and shopping, craft cocktails and coffee houses, clam chowder and cider, brass bands and surf punk bands, hidden speakeasies and late night house music dance clubs.

Jeanne Damas and all that Frenchness

I am obsessed with Jane Birkin and her equally fabulous offspring: Charlotte Gainesbourg and Lou Doillon. It is known.

And when I came across the blog of Jeanne Damas, I was instantly swept off my feet.

I've come to a point where I've realized that I own too much clothing. Much too much. I want to cull it down to a quarter of what it is. Exchange quatity for quality and have a few good effortless staples. I want to be able to live indefinitely out of a single suitcase. I travel quite a bit these days for work and pleasure and packing could be so simple if I only owned enough to fill one trunk.

So that's my goal. And Jeanne epitomizes this philosphy. It helps that she's gorgeous and French.

Sprung

That time of year again. Texas doesn't really do transitional seasons, but Seattle really does. I'm here for 3 weeks on business and I couldn't imagine a more gorgeous city during spring, with a beautiful Easter Sunday.

These images reflect this city this time of year and in turn, inspire me to pieces.

Yours truly. I like these rings of mine and that's my new favorite nail color, Eternal Optimist by Essie. Appropriate, don't you think?

As though this month couldn't get better... I'll be in Austin, Texas, for Psych Fest at the end of this month. Feast your eyes.

Rose Hips and Hair Snips

It started harmlessly enough.

I cut my own bangs. I liked them. I got my top lashes dyed so now I don't wear makeup anymore. And then a kind gentleman brought me roses (unrelated to getting my bangs cut--but maybe not...?) and they lasted a long time, but never forever. So I turned them into a crown and got undressed and took photos.

How predictable.

Someone needs to haul me off to a nudist colony already and get it over with.

I've been in such a girly mood. I want flowers in my hair, lace on my body and only the prettiest nail shades. And I'm sorely craving white denim. I'm sorry this isn't much of an outfit post. I've been so lazy; I read a lot. And go to brunch with my girls a lot, a la Sex and the City.

Bangin'

I loved Jane Birkin's bangs. But even more-- I love Julia Stegner's bangs. So much so, I'm considering a self-administered trim myself. If I hate it, my hair grows so fast... The major draw back being how fussy they can be. I wash my hair twice a week and work-out everyday and my hair has gotten so long, I usually just wear it in a braid which might not complement bangs as much as tousled locks.

Thoughts?
