Just Add a Scary Striped Sweater

Well, well, well. If it isn't October again. And to start pregaming for Halloween, I have brought you something very special today. A scary striped sweater. I got this sweater for $3 at a thrift store like a year ago and people either love it or they hate it. Doesn't matter either way to me, because I'm going to keep wearing it. Because it is scary.

Could I be more obsessed with this girl's work?

The answer to that is no.

Did I just wrap up a very special photo shoot with her in Dallas, Texas?

The answer to that is yes.

Wishlist Wednesday

TWO WEEKS IN A ROW wishlist Wednesday comes true. Last week, bleached eyebrows came true for me and this week: CHANEL Peridot nail polish! Surely you remember the entire post I dedicated to this overpriced, tiny vial of MAGIC.

Well, a friend that works at Neiman's back home in Dallas hooked me up with her discount. We won't name names but she knows I am eternally grateful.

ISN'T SHE LOVELY?

Wanna know what else I scored this weekend? Well besides the free swag I got to keep from the photoshoot I did horseback in Dallas and besides the incredible amount of raping and pillaging (thrift shopping) I did, I got these:

For $12. Be jealous.

But O'Mighty AnnaChrist, why are you telling us these things? Wishlist Wednesday is for items that you lust after and do not (yet) own!

I am here to answer your call, little ones.

First item of lusty wantmanship-- a bag by Simone Camille.

But with hefty price tags (between $850 and $1000), I'll have to settle on hunting down item of lusty wantmanship number two-- a lava lamp.

Why the fuck did these ever go out of style?

Do you have any rules when thrifting?
I try not to be too picky and try not to stick to one style.
Any thrifting pet peeves?
If you’re looking for one particular thing, you’ll never find it.
Describe your style in 3 words:
Carefree, versatile, delicate.

--DISNEY--

Photobucket

Total cost of outfit pictured: $18

Do you have any rules when thrifting?
Definitely won’t buy underwear. And with clothes, even if it’s cheap, it still has to fit well! And sometimes its fantastic, but when will I ever wear it?
Any thrifting pet peeves?
You can’t find anything in your size. You fall in love with something and its 3 sizes too large. You can’t focus—it’s so packed in there.
Describe your style in 3 words:
Flirty, floral, fun

--ANNA-CHRISTINA--

Photobucket

Total cost of outfit picture: $15

Do you have any rules when thrifting?
Never spend more than $50 in any given trip. And never buy the underwear. But I will buy swimwear…
Any thrifting pet peeves?
If the item is missing a price tag—they won’t sell it! I wish I got a dollar every time I fell in love with something and then they wouldn’t sell it to me because some other jerkoff had ripped the tag off.
Describe your style in 3 words:
Comfortable, outrageous, easy.

The Ginger Trifecta PART I

Thrifting—it’s like a sample sale, a garage sale and an endurance sport all had a mutant, awesome baby.

Thrifting is intimidating. Where’s my size? Where do I begin? Why is there maternity mixed in with menswear? Why would they organize by color instead of size? Where’s the other shoe? Where’s the price tag? Who buys underwear at these places??

So today, the Ginger Trifecta tackles thrifting. My two best girlfriends here in San Diego and myself have it down to a science and we are here to share strategy and show off some of the weekend’s booty. (lolz no real booty, sorry to disappoint)

And you don’t have to be a carrot top to master this—that’s pure coincidence.

Although my sister does have a theory that redheads cluster because one friend will tend to “collect” redheaded friends because they are inherently more awesome. Go figure.

Anna-Christina, 23, from Dallas, Texas. Percent of wardrobe thrifted: 85%
Do you have a strategy when thrifting?
It’s an endurance sport. Always go in with a full stomach and clothes that you can take on and off easily—because you’ve got to streamline the dressing room process!
What are you always drawn to?
Ridiculous shit. Outrageous pieces that I would never buy if it wasn’t under ten dollars.
What is the best find you’ve scored recently?
Some insane purple, embroidered platform wedges!
Total Cost of Outfit Pictured: $72 (the vintage Frye boots were $60)

Disney, 25, from Mobile, Alabama. Percent of wardrobe thrifted: 10%
Do you have a strategy when thrifting?
I don’t like digging. I find the thing with the coolest print and then pick it! I thrift housewares more than clothes.
What are you always drawn to?
Prints. Lots of colors. Lots of little detail and metal studs!
What is the best find you’ve scored recently?
Some tan t-strap heels! $3 at Kobey's swap meet! You can’t find shoes that cheap anywhere!
Total cost of outfit pictured: $29 (jewelry is vintage from Mom!)

Jessie, 22, from Ventura, California. Percent of wardrobe thrifted: 15%
Do you have a strategy when thrifting?
I go in with a completely open mind. I use thrift stores to get out of my bubble, explore.
What are you always drawn to?
Hmmm… never anything super bright.
What is the best find you’ve scored recently?
The dresses. They’re always new looking and under ten dollars!
Total cost of outfit pictured: $37 (jewelry is vintage from Mom and Grandma!)
