A Mystical Dream World

Last weekend, I had the honor to model for photographer and artist, Charles Bergquist. It was a dream come true in that I respect his work, it was Neil Krug inspired (and we know how obsessed with Krug I am) and got to see rolling National Geographic-worthy dunes. A sweeping landscape that took my breath away. Here's a sneak peek at some of the images that Charles captured.

And here's some behind the scenes and outtakes taken by the model-gorgeous stylist, Katrina.

Dia de los Muertos

November 2nd is Day of the Dead, y'all. You will find me in San Diego's historic Old Town on that day observing the holiday by drinking margaritas before work, bitches.

And adoring all of the sugar skull imagery. Let it be known: I love skulls.

And this necklace by Me & Ro is a stunner. I first saw it at Barney's in Los Angeles when I was interning as a stylist on an Elle Magazine shoot a couple weeks ago. The necklace is such a dainty stunner-- but get this. It's scrimshaw. Which means its etched out of ivory and is ridiculously delicate. Like you shouldn't get it wet.

This defeats the purpose of dainty charm necklaces, in my opinion. I like dainty charm necklaces to be "everyday" jewelry, where you wear it day in day out, in the shower, to bed, always.

So alas, I shall just dream of this carved ivory beaut.

The Dark Hawaiian

Photobucket

All year long. So I'm walking to the grocery store and poke my nose into one of the many thrift stores in San Diego and found this shirt. It is Hawaiian style but not technically Hawaiian print-- because the flowers are not exotic! They are HYDRANGEAS. Can you believe this? Wannabe run-of-the-mill hydrangeas trying to be on a Hawaiian shirt. HMPH. Well. The shirt was $1.50, so I got it anyways.

And finally, in spirit of Halloween:

This is a free mixtape put out by The Rabbit Hole Music Blog for Halloween! Download here! It's a mix of witch house and gothy electro. It's not the usual haunted house soundtrack, but think of dark indie music to get faded to while handing out candy. My boyfriend and his friend run the blog and I did the album artwork. We all know how much I like to watercolor creepy crawlies. So go download for free and be merry this weekend! And like The Rabbit Hole Music Blog on facebook because they put out free mixes every month.

And their last one, Autumnus (perfect studying tunes), is the BEST. Or maybe Summer Emancipation (get up and DANCE). I can never decide.

You wanna go take a dip in my above ground pool? Or drink a natty light and watch Nascar? No? Well, then maybe you should stop reading now.

Britt Maren, although not born there, is from Houston, Texas. I'm also from Texas. Thus everything about this editorial appeals to me. Because, yeah, this is what it looks and feels like. Which is to say-- really, really awesome.

Crazy Awesome Pants

It all began with a pair of pants that stole my heart, yet I could not afford. (Story of my life, am I right?)

Photobucket
vintage, Etsy, $180, available here.

If you buy them, please do them justice, make outfit posts about them everyday, lay them in a shrine while you sleep and send me the photos so that I may dreamily gaze upon them.

Here's the pair I could afford:

Upcycled vintage buttonfly Levi 501s. Gypsy's Treasure Cove is such a pro at dip-dying and studding shorts and making awesome upcycled jeans. And who'dathunk I could find a pair so awesome in my size?? And oh so affordable.

And here's the pair I'm DIYing myself! This is only a sneak peak at the pair of thrifted Guess jeans that I'm hand painting Hawaiian print on... HAH and you thought this Hawaiian print thing was a passing fancy! Oh no, it still tickles my FANCY alright.

Photobucket

Slow going, but I'll get there eventually. And then eat a pineapple or sip a Mai Tai or something.
