Wishlist Wednesday

May this post begin the tradition of Wishlist Wednesdays. Today's item of lusty wantmanship:

I want a motherfuckin' horse.

When I'm not making sexy to the self-timer (blogging) or making science (the ol' 9 to 5), I'm pursuing new hobbies. For that is the beauty of being a student no more. I'm from Texas and got cowgirl in my veins. So I've picked up horse-back riding. I'm quite new, have a lot to learn but thoroughly enjoy it. And will enjoy it even more when I'm going really fast, jumping across creeks, bare back on a beautiful silver dapple thoroughbred, with our hairs mingling in the wind...

Anyways. Inspiration isn't always drawn from campaigns, editorials and tumblr. So here's some fine art photography from Kicking Stones that inspires the shit outta me.

Meet my dream horses.

No More Skinny

I'm not swearing off skinny jeans forever, I'm just in the mood for something else. Something rich and volumous. Something that makes me want to go get in my VW bus.

That I don't have.

...yet.

So I've pillaged a couple thrift stores in preparation for colder weather. I let down the hems (I have ridiculously long legs) and dyed them richer colors. I left one pair true blue. Thank god for Rit Dye. Seriously.

Photobucket

I got four pair. Not a one of them over 5 bux.

from left to right: Cache, Mossimo, Express, Hollister.

These denim companies never make jeans I like, but suddenly I find them in a thrift store and I'm like, "BY GOLLY THESE ARE SWELL."

... although we both know that the heels are just for your entertainment. In real life (not blog world), I'm always in Birkenstocks.

A Farewell to a Haircut

The Dellal has served me well for a year and a half now. It was fun, easy, interesting. But I'm retiring it. As a farewell, here's some of it's best moments.

Top by American Apparel, Boots by Doc Martens, American shorts, my own DIY. (This photo was deleted from Photobucket for being inappropriate or something. Can you believe that? This is not just a farewell to a haircut but farewell to Photobucket. Hello Image Shack.)

I guess this will be the end of "did you have brain surgery or something..?"

"No, bitch, I just have an awesome haircut."

And now commences the awkward grow-out phase. But as you can tell by this post, my new look with the center part will do juuuuuust fine. Oh and the fact that I can wear my Bianca Adventurer fedora every day now.

The Fact About Females

Feast your eyes on another one of my favorite artists, John William Godward (English, 1861-1922).

He clearly had a very good idea about what it's like to be female.

Bitches be lazy. And wear sheer everything. And lounge around on various furs. This is it, no?

No, his work isn't quite so repetitive, I just like these.

Great Expectations

Something I've noticed about bloggers these days... DO YOU REALLY WEAR LIPSTICK AND J. CAMPBELLS EVERYDAY? To the bank? To the pharmacy? To buy milk?

I mean, if you do, more power to you.

My dream used to be driving around in a white Landrover, wearing expensive lingerie and a fur coat. With my exotic parrot riding shotgun. Now I'm lucky to walk out of the house wearing something I didn't wear the day before.

So, to adapt a well-loved meme:

EXPECTATIONS:

Boots, Etsy; shorts, Blank denim cutoffs; shirt, Buffalo Exchange; sunnies, vintage shop.

REALITY:

Birkenstocks and socks.

I dress for comfort and I look like a bum more often than not. That's because The Dude is my style icon.
